Updating the Software

To download the latest version of the PC software, please click here. Save the file to your computer's hard drive, then execute it. It will install the TCB-1 Graphical User Interface software in the C:\tcb\tcb1 directory.

You will also need to download a file with the firmware for the TCB1. There are several revisions of the TCB-1 hardware. Revision D uses different firmware than the earlier versions and requires the firmware with a "d" in the filename. You can identify the version of your TCB-1 by looking at the back of the TCB-1 enclosure and comparing with the pictures below:

Revision A, B or C - Right-click and "Save As" [TCBv2012.elf.S]

or

Revision D or later - Right-click and "Save As" [TCBv2012d.elf.S]

Save the file to a location where you can find it later (maybe the Desktop).

• To run the PC software, click on the Start button > Programs menu > Link Communications > TCB-I GUI.
• Click on the “Communications” tab (on the top-right) and select the COM port your computer uses (the one connected to the TCB-1 with a serial cable). The other default settings (115200 baud and Enable Line Delay) should be OK.
• Click on the “Program FLASH” tab on the top left, then the “Send New Firmware” button in the center of the screen.
• When the Open dialog appears, click on “My Computer” (on the far left) and navigate to your desktop (or wherever you saved the firmware file).
• Select either TCBv2012.elf.s or TCBv2012d.elf.s, as described above.
• After selecting the file and clicking Open, the TCB-1 Graphical User Interface will begin to transfer the firmware update to the TCB-1 and update the progress bar. If you have trouble getting the update to start, try cycling power to the TCB-1.
• When the updated firmware has been transferred, the TCB-1 will restart automatically, and display the new version number on its LCD. You should also see the progress bar change to indicate that the update was successful.

The TCB-1 should retain all of its previous settings and resume normal operation. The serial cable can be disconnected and the TCB-1 can be powered down at this point.
