Patching in TDS is done at the network level through the use of multicast patch groups.
When using LinkTDS with the TCB-IP2, patching is as easy as pressing the
crossconnect button, and selecting the group that you would like to put the
resource in.
To add a resource to a patch, simply click the cross-connect button,

and the
patch select drop-down menu will appear. Select a patch group to add the
resource to, and on successful completion, the patch name will be displayed
directly to the left of the crossconnect button, and the corresponding patch
color will appear on the widget:
In this case, we selected "Patch 5". Blue indicates the color of the patch, and this color will be used on the
select button
of resources that are members of the patch.
To remove the resource from a patch, select "Ungroup" from the cross-connect
dropdown.
Extended control of a patch is possible by opening the resource panel, and dragging
a patch to the screen. The advanced patch control widget gives users the ability to
talk out to all members of the patch group, as well as remove all current members with
a single mouse click.
To remove all TCBIP2's from the associated patch, simply click the patch's
"Clear" button.
To communicate with all members of a patch, you can use the "Patch Talk"
feature. Press and hold the "Talk" button to speak out over the patch.
Since the "Talk" button has turned the color of the patch, we are speaking out
to all active members. If you would like to communicate to members who are
in patches
without speaking to everyone in the patch group, you can use the
ptt-line feature.
